It is perfectly ok to finish your quilt that way-that is how my grandmother taught me and I tend to like it-gives a more tailored look- unless the quilt calls for a fancier binding. Moms tend to get on our nerves-we just need to try to remember what bothered us so we do not turn around and do it to our own children one day.
