Run over to JoAnn's buy a yo-yo maker, some hand quilting thread in black and/or white and needles. Then go back to the red tag area and buy clearance fabric in 1/8 yd or 1/4 yd pieces depending on the size yo-yo make you buy. OOPS and I guess you'll need to buy some inexpensive scissors, too!
I love mine and can now do handwork even with my arthritis because the yo-yo maker holds the fabric in place while I stitch. I've made them out of cotton, silky fabrics, chiffons, etc. I've even done some taffetas that are really great. I'm using them to decorate purses, headbands, etc. I leave the thread long once I tie it off so I can add a button from my 'stash' for the center.
It's been a great stress reliever for me.
Prayers going up for you and hubby.
Peggy
