Hello from North Carolina. That's how I did it, just jumped in. Only, I was gathering stuff for making lap quilts for shut-ins and it has mushroomed. I've gotten fabric from lots of places, Goodwill, Bargain Barns, Value Village and Freecycle.com . So I don't need more, I just need to sew! Love it and this board. Hope you will, too.
