The laziest way I know of to clean burnt on gunk out of a pan is hot water and Cascade. Let it sit overnight and it'll be clean or very close to it in the morning.
And if it's burned on the outside, fill the sink with water and add dishwasher detergent (doesn't have to be Cascade) and let soak overnight. Presto it will look like new!
