Does anyone have difficulty estimating the amount of fabric needed for a full size quilt when you only have a block pattern giving the size strips to cut for 1 block? Is there a good solution for this problem?
A yard=36 inches. Divide that by width of strip, in this case 2.5 inches. Result is 14.4 strips. I always allow extra fabric to allow for the fact that the fabric will not be straight when I buy it, and I could make an error in cutting. For those that prewash, allow for shrinking.
