Just never let the movers move your sewing machines. They always go in the van along with my quilts and DH's computers. We have moved so many times. If it's going into storage for a while, I put anything I don't want to have water damage in plastic totes. More expensive than boxes, but has saved so many things from being damaged. Plastic bags for smaller things is a great idea too.
No, I have already planned to take my sewing machines and computer in my car. DH can take his precious items in his car. I don't even want to trust him to take care of my sewing machines. It took me too long to find just the right ones, and break myself in with them. Plus I'll want to have them set up right away. My stash, however, is something else. I won't be able to fit it all in my smallish car. Maybe I could get one of my daughters to bring it in a small rental truck. But first it all has to be carefully packed.
