There is a wonderful Bevery Cleary story about a boy with two guppies who eventually has a bedroom full of giant pickle jars holding all the guppies who have been born at his house....so as a teacher and "inquiring mind" I have to ask-----do they really multiply quickly? Thanks

they have lots of babies at 1 time. problem is that they will be eaten quickly if there is not a lot of vegetation for them to hide in or unless you catch the babes and put them in a smaller nursery tank.
