After piecing the tops, you take your backing, lay it face DOWN against a table or the floor (if your able to get down!) and tape it down. Next, lay your batting on it and tape it down. Then, after pressing your quilt top, lay it down on the batting FACE UP and tape it. Next, baste the three layers together so they don't shift. Use pins, or thread-baste. There are LOTS of Tutorials on this. Now your ready to quilt thru the three layers. The simplest way is to stitch in the ditch-meaning, following along the seam lines where you stitched your blocks-it's simple straight sewing. I have never done a QAYG quilt-but it looks like you already have the muslin backing on it. If unsure, try it on a small sample with the three layers together-maybe using spare quilt blocks.
