I wrote on everyone's scissors. DH has his, DD has her's, they'd better not touch mine. DD had a friend over that wanted to see if my rotary cutter was as sharp as DD told her it was. I noticed the nicks in it the next time I tried to use it and found out that the friend had cut a couple of straight pins with it. Not good! The next time she was here I told her that if she got into any of my sewing things that she wouldn't be able to come back. That did the trick.
If they still cut okay you might try using an alcohol swab to remove any residue from the scallions.
