My chidren were and are great about it. My ex-husband - not so much so. I came home from taking a daughter to Mayo Clinic to find my left handed Ginghers soaking in some brine solution in his fishing tackle box. That one cost him a pretty penny.
Kitchen scissors aren't very useful. I like Dollar Tree for kitchen and wrapping paper scissors. I also buy a pair in Dec if I'm going to be using a lot of fleece. That stuff kills good scissors.
