I have a Janome 350E and wouldn't trade it for anything. It has the USB port and makes things easier to download. Each brand of embroidery machine has a 'language' they read. Janome is JEF, Viking is HUS, Brother is PES. So having a USB port would be something you would want. Card readers are fine but that is an added expense to your investment.
