After Mom was no longer able to sit for any length of time without her feet up, she would sit every evening in her recliner cutting out quilt pieces. I am left with mostly 2 1/2 inch squares but some 4 inch squares - stacks of them. She has them all mixed up as to cross grain and lengthwise grain and it's taking me some time to get them all going the same way. I am also finding she cut some of the squares not quite on the grain and even a few on the bias.

I am planning on making up all these squares into simple scrappy square quilts and my question is should I just combine all these cuts and not worry about which way they go or should I at least kull the bias squares so my quilts will not turn out too wonky???

Would it help to cut up lots of squares of muslin cut properly to go behind each square, or am I just asking for trouble doing this???

Thank you for any input you are able to give.
