I found out that if you aim the spray from the outside to the center and put newspaper under the edges you can avoid most of the "sticky" stuff from getting on your table or floor. You have to keep moving around the quilt in order to accomplish this, but it seemed to work pretty well for me. Also, just a little is enough. You don't need to spray a whole bunch. If you are spraying small items cut off a cardboard box and spray inside the box. If it gets too sticky, put a sheet of newspaper in it and continue on. I do mine in my dining room on my table. You can spray half or a quarter at a time if your table is too small.
