I also make quilts for pets at the shelter. For the dogs I pick up flannel pillow cases at the thrift store, fill with my small scrap material, close at the end and sew around the edges. The lady at the shelter says they wash good and the dogs like them because they can dig up their laying spot.
For the cats I just make small quilts, for the cages that they are in, it also breaks my heart to see them, but aleast I know I'm helping.
Also some of them get to take their quilt home...
My quilting groups save all the bits n pieces, and I do mean ALL and I make comfy and washable cushion size beds for our local Cat sanctuary, I have made 6 this past month alone, I don't believe in waste :lol:
