Janstar and I met a few weekends ago to pick up her quilt....

I love this memory quilt and it took me that long to design what I was going to quilt. Each picture represents something different..each block has different fabric and trying to make it all cohesive and fluid was stumping me...it is obviously her Grandson?? I kept seeing the same face in every photo..handsome young man!

SO what I decided was to kind of make "PHOTO FRAMES" around every photo or block....to give it unity every other block had the same frame..and then I made each frame on the opposite ones a different more elaborate frame to give it some interest ....I stippled the outside edges...and inside the frames I just did some light block work to keep the fabrics together without quilting over photos..I would never dream of doing that to someone's quilt.

If I wasn't a scrapbooker I don't know that I would have thought of this idea..and I just LOVE the outcome!

I had my kids hold the quilt outside to get pictures..so they re kind of awkward...my DH is folding laundry on my bed..I dare not interrupt him or I will have to fold

I quilted this all freehand on my INNOVA....no pantos or computer quilting.....
Thanks for looking!
