Once you learn to make a wing block you can use them to make a quilt block. There are a bunch of them I designed in the Sampler Quilt Along I posted on the board. You can make a bunch of them and just set them on your table and turn them til you get a quilt block look you like. I use a layout of 6 blocks in a row and 6 rows or 36 quilt blocks to make a 12 1/2" quilt block if you use a 2 1/2" template. You can use a 3 1/2" template and use 4 blocks to a row and 4 rows or 16 wing blocks.

I use a 1 1/2" template which will create a 6 1/2" quilt block with the 6 x 6 layout(6 blocks in a row)

I make hotpads with them and totebags and purses. I use a 1 1/4" template and make checkbook covers and bookmarks and eyeglass cases and magnets and keychains etc.

If you prefer to make larger quilt blocks just use a larger template.

You can make an 18" quilt block and make a quilt that way or any size you want.

I also have an ebook available on the Wings blocks
