My process --> I designed this one on graph paper using the dimensions of the pre-printed quotes I got last fall at a local quilt show...some about music and some about praising God through dance and music. I bought a pack of black and white fat quarters and then added Kona black because some of the pre-printed blocks ended up being too small. Based on the way I drew it, I had to do some inset/Y seams but they were much easier than I thought they would be. I just had to plan the order well.

Once I got done with the black and white, it was too stark. So I asked my niece (who this is for) whether she liked red or pink better. She chose pink, so I asked her bright or pale and luckily she said bright! So I printed out the words in large letters, traced them onto fusible, iron'd them to the pink, cut them out then ironed them on and appliqued them down in black. The music staff and note were also printed/traced/appliqued...

I am still going to add a 2 1/2 inch pink border and then a 5 inch border that is actual piano keys....... My binding is black and white stripes. The back is a black and white flowery pattern....with one of the sayings blocks somewhere on it with an appliqued pink heart.

It isn't hanging totally straight and flat so some of the seams look "off" but IRL it looks pretty good actually! I am going to quilt it with a lot of different patterns I think, probably with white on the darker pieces and black on the lighter/white pieces so that the quilting will pop. There are a few mistakes, but I love it!
