I agree with putting everything away for now and doing something else that brings you joy!

I'm also going to advocate for keeping the hand-piecing class. I am doing some hand piecing now for the first time since Girl Scouts and it's amazing how much better I'm getting to know my 1/4" seam, stitch length, the feel of the fabric, being on/off grain, sewing curves...basically I feel like I'm a lot closer to the process. I can see where if you were intimidated by triangles, a hand-piecing class would be an awesome way to learn!!
