Well you can make them as big or small as you like - I drew it on graph paper then called each square on paper an inch in the quilt. I could have doubled up to larger blocks, or made the original grid bigger but I wanted to start small to get the hang of it! I think I'll put a fairly wide border of the fabric above and leave it at that - but straight or the first pic? The jury's still out but my DH now says the first one. :D
