I'm not sure about the saran wrap. I know that plastic bags (not plastic boxes) can have outgassing problems that affect fabric over time.
Is there something else you could use? I'm thinking inexpensive muslin (make muslin "sleeves" for the cardboard) or aluminum foil. These would be things that wouldn't outgas.
