I usually secure the thread in the snap end of the spool that doesn't have the thread number on it. But if it breaks off I use tape that I got at a drugstore in the gauze and Ace bandage section that sticks to itself, cut a piece off & wrap it around the spool. I cut just a thin strip so I can still see the color of the thread. I don't tuck the thread in the snap end with the thread number on it 'cause I don't want it to break off and then not know the number. Sulky's spools are quite a bit flimsier than the other brands I use.
