When I lived on the island of St. Croix in the Carribbean all of our water for everybody was their own rainwater.
There were no sources of underground water there.
All of the houses had a big cisterns made of sealed cement blocks in their basements. They were full of water. Lovely fresh clean soft rainwater!
It was the best tasting water you could ever imagine!
