I took the three layers apart of a scrap and it measured about 12 1/2 inches by 5. folded it in half and then thirds with the raw edge tucked inside. then stitched close to the edge on both sides of band. this way it matches perfectly. (strap) I used this instead of ribbon.
I loved your idea of prequilted fabric. I was at our Hospice clothing store today and found two vests, one jean and one pieced, that were quilted already and they looked like I could get one or two bags out of it. I also saw one vest that was quilted but in silk which was beautiful. I didn't have enough money with me today or I would have gotten that one as well. May go back tomorrow. I did find a couple of cotton shirts that I can use in my row robin. They are cheaper than the goodwill and have a large selection as well.
