Had a look on the media pages and saw the quilt and the comments. They also had a poll which was interesting.

It makes a very strong statement about a real, current social issue. Pornographic, no, confronting and disturbing, yes. One assumes the organisers/board are representative of that particular community and therefore made the decision to show the quilt based on the assumption most people would not find it offensive.

Was it the only quilt there which made such a strong statement? Was it mixed in with all the mainstream quilts or in a section along with other art quilts? Was the perception of the public, it was thrown in to shock? Could the organisers have labelled it as 15+?

Possibly it should have been shown in a gallery under a thematic group with other artforms. Probably not what you would expect to find in a regular quilt show.

More importantly was the stitching good, did the values give a balanced look and was the binding stitched neatly.
