Hi everyone, if you remember "littlharley" posted her picture of the calendar cats applique quilt and everyone loved it. I was fortunate to be able to purchase the pattern book which was written and designed by Barbie Jo Paquin. I love this quilt, but of course, I am a cat lover anyway and was looking for a "cat" project so this one fit me perfectly. Here are a few pictures of 4 blocks that are completed. I have had such fun doing these blocks out of my scraps. I did make a few changes from the way the pattern instructed to put the blocks together. Instead of applying the "torn" background blocks to a block of solid fabric, I just used 3" borders to make a sturdier block. 6 blocks will be bordered in blue and 6 in yellow, alternating each one. Also I used a heavy heat and bond to secure the cats to the blocks. It is a little harder to get a needle in the bonded fabrics to do all the outline stitches but I managed it. I have a couple of sore fingers though!! I was concerned that the blocks may not hold up as a useable quilt unless I did these things. Seems like the pattern book calls this a wall quilt and I want to use it as a bed quilt. I am working on block 5 now and hope to have them all finished by this time next week. This pattern/quilt was such a hit when it was posted, thought you would enjoy seeing my start. If anyone is doing this quilt I would love to see yours. Thanks for looking. Barbo
