National, I believe. They do take a different needle, but Damascus Annie uses a regular 15 x 1 needle and just cheats it down a bit:

Thank you! She seems to be the only person that has photos of her collection posted. Very Nice! I saw them yesterday and started researching. Happy to read that the needle can be cheated down. I like these non-Singer machines that I own; they sew very nicely.
