I taught quilting as part of an enrichment program in my school. The principal wanted the theme to be the school’s “Core Values” No problem I said….. I thought I was going to have upper grade for 5 weeks. Turns out I was going to have kids from K-5 grade AND I would only see each group once for 45 mins. WHAT DO I DO NOW??? Well.. I had the younger students use fabric markers and trace their hands and trace heart templates…. The upper grade cut the shashing, cut all the appliqué (that is why the moon is not a perfect half circle) and hand sewed the blocks together. I did the embroidery and the quilting…. I think the kids did great job.
