I starch on my ironing board, or on my ironing pad directly right
of my machine. I buy a piece of what I call 'decorator fabric"
maybe what some would call upholstery fabric. It is thicker
but no nap. I use that wherever I am going to press. I press
most all seams, so there is a lot of overspray. When it gets to
feeling stiff I just put it through the laundry and it is good to go
again. They do wear out in time but much cheaper to replace
than an ironing board cover or ironing pad.
