I made a Christmas table runner for a friend, that she later lit on fire.... She doesn't sew, so I took it back, found a piece to fit (I couldn't believe that I still had that fabric 2 years later!), blind appliqued it in place (didn't take out the burnt fabric), stuffed in a piece of batting, made a patch for the back, then re-quilted some lines.
When I gave it back, she couldn't find the patch, and she knew where the candle had burned through. Only on the back, where there was an actual patch, could she find it.
Don't stress. This is an easy-peasy fix!
