As some of the others have said, we never know what the person has gone thru to produce the piece of work. My cousin gave me a beautiful cross-stitched table topper for a wedding gift and I used it on the table where the guest book was displayed for people to sign. I overheard someone remark that "it looked like it was made by a 3 year old" and then laughed. I took her aside and shared that it had been made by someone who only had the use of her left hand due to a stroke when she was 5 years old. She had the grace to look ashamed and apologized. I treasure that topper as she passed away 3 years later at 28 years old. Mom always said "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all". Thankfully, there were others who remarked how beautiful it was. She was sitting at the table in charge of the guest book. I remember her happy smile to this day since she had never heard the nasty comment. She was a very remarkable young lady.
