Sometimes I forget and put the needle in wrong. You might doublecheck.
Sometimes the thread is too heavy and you will need a size 14 needle that's what I use in all my FW. Like Sharon said make sure the needle is in right. Look at the stitch length lever and see if it is sitting on a number.
