I do rocks also. But most of our rocks are so boring because our ground is ancient (10,000 years old) glacial moraine. Digging simple hole for a tree here is at least a one hour job.

I carry a small bucket into the garden whenever I plant or dig in a row. Every little stone and rock goes into the bucket and then dumped into my garden border project. The borders are about three feet wide and the bottom is covered with old magazines and newspapers with weedcloth on top. The rocks go on top as a permanent mulch, no weeding. I have daylilies planted in the beds. The goal is to have all of the fence line done in this border.
