Use a stitch that puts as little pressure on the satin as possible. I use a serpentine - not a high pressure one and the snaking back and forth catches the back better. It really isn't much of a problem except for the corners. Pin them well and if you have to put in a few hand stitches afterwards to make them look good, oh, well.

If you can lower the pressure on the presser foot, then I'd try it. That may be my only complaint on my Elna. The presser foot is self adjusting - not always.
