When I 'set up' my sewing area, I used a graph paper so I could move things around on the paper & see how much space I had for each piece of furniture etc. I had to find space for a long arm quilting machine (which had to be turned diagonally) to make it fit. Doing this really helped me. I found a tall narrow chest of drawers that didn't take up much floor space, but holds lot of things.
