Welcome from the State of Delaware. My hands are small and I cannot find a thimble to fit my fingers except the one that looks like a ring. Just slide it on my pointer finger and sew away. For applique I use a longer needle and by the time I am done, I have bowed it somewhat but it works for me. If I cannot get the needle thru, I use a piece of balloon or a tip (1-1/2" piece) of a rubber or surgerical glove. It grips the needle and you can pull it thru. Also a rubber finger works too, the kind a person uses in the office or a bank. Try different needles, the betweens 7 or 9 or other types that fit your hand. I test them by sticking it into the fabric. If it does not enter and exit smooth enough, try another needle. You will find a thimble and a needle to fit your hand - find one that is comfortable. There are a lot out there. Sometimes you can find an old one that fits too. Best of luck!
