For a stack and whack you use the repeat of the fabric design to cut your main fabric. Most of what I have done calls for at least a 6" repeat. If the repeat of the design is alot bigger than that then you will have more waste (good for the scrap collector). This may not make sense if you have never made one or seen the instructions for a s & w!
