Each pup is different, however this is the general guidelines we used house training our four (including the Saint Bernard). As soon as you wake up, remove puppy from crate and immediately take outside for potty. Big praise for a job well done! Breakfast, potty immediately following. Play time, potty every 2 hours or if Pup is looking for a potty spot or at the door. Whenever pup is not with you, crate. Lunch time, potty, play, potty then crate for some down time. Puppy dinner was at 5:30pm , nothing in the way of treats, water etc. after dinner. By controlling the pups intake times, you will realize a potty schedule quickly. Obviously in hot weather when training a pup water must be offered more frequently. When the weather gets nicer, see about an outdoor enclosed area that he can play in, he will pick his spot. Also, don't be in a hurry to clean up his poop, once he smells it he will eliminate again as a general rule. Good Luck!
