Hi Nursie! I, too, am a nurse and have relocated to coastal Florida. I love it here! I currently am working on an easy easy pattern in batiks, "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend." The colors graduate from pale pale pale blue to the turquioise so common in the Gulf to the deep indigos of the deeper ocean waters. The background is the color of the white sands here in the panhandle with bits of blues and greens randomly painted through it. I found this pattern in a book called "Six Halves Make a Whole Lot More" from Quilting By the Bay in Panama City, FL.
Also, I made one of deep sea life framed in blues rather than the varied colors shown on the pattern. It is a very simple block pattern called All About Me. My husband loves it.
