I had not been on the message board in ages and just saw this question. No there are no instructions in the book. You figure out how to do each block as you come to it. A lot of people paper piece a good percentage of the blocks. I hand pieced all of the blocks or needle turn applique or reverse applique. You use whatever method you are comfortable with.
