I agree with Oxyclean, or maybe try vinegar or club soda.
Years ago I lived in a tiny rental with beige carpeting. There wasn't room for a coffee or an end table so guests had to place their drink glasses on the floor. My friend Dave put a glass with red wine (!!) on the floor and then accidentally tipped it over. Being young and uninformed, I didn't know how to get it out.
Months later Dave (again!) set a bottle of beer in the same place on the floor, kicked it over, and the red wine stain came out!!! I'll bet it was the carbonation, probably NOT the hops and the alcohol sugars that did the trick! When I eventually moved and had the carpets cleaned, there was no evidence left of that stain.
So ever since, I always recommend trying seltzer water for difficult stains.

P.S. Nope I didn't marry Dave, but we're still friends -- and I always make sure he uses a sippy cup!
