I don't put ties or velcro, but I put fabric "handles." Just baste in some straps made out of the same fabric as the bag or tube then stitch up your bag. I always use plain flannel, it's so soft, and I make a sort of pillow case, envelope style, in a printed flannel for the removable outer cover. They last forever. What great small gifts they are. This past Christmas I made them with cases in a Christmas print outer cover. Very attractive.
