1 pound ground beef
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
2 cans tomato paste
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon tabasco sauce
1/4 lb. mozzarella cheese
1 package wide noodles, cooked, 8 oz.
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup cottage cheese
Brown beef, onion, celery, and green pepper. Blend in tomato paste, mustard, oregano, salt, pepper and sauces. Continue to cook, stir occasionally, 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Blend sour cream and noodles. Layer half sour cream and noodles, meat, cheese, cottage cheese, and top with remaining noodles. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. 6-8 servings.
**Mom's variation: layer 1/2 noodles, meat, cottage cheese and remaining noodles. Cover with lid and microwave on high 5 minutes. Top with cheese. Cook uncovered 5 more minutes.
I love this recipe. My family likes it better in the microwave than the oven and only cooking 10 minutes really works for me.
