This is a toughy. Will the quilt be used or displayed? I'm thinking print the photo on a piece of fabric, then back it with iron on batting and a backing. Then bind the square, and add button holes and put buttons on the quilt. She can unbutton the square when it's laundered. Need to put buttons every 2 or 3 inches so that it's not flapping around.
