My friends, Linda & Dave, have started a foundation in memory of their son, promoting mental health awareness. In May there will be the first annual Jason Tennies Memorial Walk for Mental Health, and my friend Sara & I are making a quilt that will be raffled off at the walk. Since Jason was a musician, I designed a quilt with his favorite colors that will have a guitar appliqued in the center.

I thought you might like to see our process from the very beginning.


This is my original sketch for the quilt

Sara made Nine-Patches

and I cut them apart!

These will make the inner border around the guitar

Then sewed them back together again
