I just purchased a Viking Husqvarna Sapphire 835 sewing/quilting machine last month for $999. I LOVE it. It doesn't do embroidery but does everything else and runs like a dream. They do have embroidery machines if that is what you are looking for. The Sapphire 875 is the next step up and is $1500. If I had the extra money I would have upgraded to that. Check with the dealers in your area. Go with one that offers classes with the new machine you purchase and be sure they have a repair shop if you need it. I have owned a Kenmore and a singer but would definately not purchase a singer again.
