You bring up a good point with the wood finish touching the fabric. They always tell you not to store quilts directly touching wood. I would at least put shelf paper down, or get some laminate(formica) and just lay it on the shelves. All in all it looks like a deal! I'm sure your husband would never notice, except you might need him to help move it. That would probably give it away ;-)
