I am relatively new to quilting. I made a very simple quilt for my son when he was two years old (he's now 38) and hand tied the squares together. He undid every single tie one afternoon when he was supposed to be napping and was so proud of himself. I haven't done another till this last summer.
My friend in Maine, an excellent teacher I might add, introduced me to quilted placemats and table runners and I was hooked!
Making the transition from placemats to quilts couldn't be that hard I thought so I tried a "Trip Around the World" in shades of blue for above mentioned son and his wife. The top took me about a week. (I am retired and have a very understanding husband!) That one turned out so well I did one for his sister as well. I had them machine quilted by a professional and was thrilled with the results. Both quilts were lovingly received and have given all of us great pleasure.
