My dear friend from school (40+ years..) gave me a copy of the Quiltmaker's Gift for Christmas. She works as an elementary school librarian, and loves to read this to the children. I loved the book also, and read it several times to one of my 5 yr old grandsons. Together we decided to make a quilt for her. I got the companion book and made my first batik quilt. Colin helped pick the pattern and some of the colors. I sent her the quilt this week and in her phone call thanking me, she sounded very pleased!
