It worked great for me-I did mostly herbs, but also some border flowers started that way. Keep the egg trays on somesort of tray to catch water run-off, and it will help keep them moist between waterings. When you are ready to transplant them, loosten up the cardboard a little (slightly tear it in a couple of spots-should be easy since you've soaked it) to allow the roots to spread out in the soil. The cardboard will eventually just bio-degrade in the soil. Good luck
