I saw this pattern at quiltbug.com
( http://quiltbug.com/PDF/FSTT.pdf

and I had the perfect birds fabric to fussy cut the center. Took just a few hours to do . FYI the instructions are for using thangles papers for the half squares. If you are using rotary then they need to be cut 3 7/8 so you will have 2 completed 3.5 inch half squares. The solid squares need to be adjusted accordingly I think they ended up being 3.5 too . So you may have to make minor adjustments so wait to cut your center square until you piece a block and measure. I didn't figure that out until I was putting it together and the center square needed to be cut down to fit the rows so mine is a bit smaller. But it was fun to do :-)
